On Monday January 9th 2012, my wife and I received one of the worst news a parent could hear. Our last daughter Leah, at the tender age of six had been diagnosed with Leukemia. Our blood ran cold, as we were fully aware that the possibility of survival in St. Vincent was nil. Neither the technology nor the medication is readily available here.
A week or two after his forty-seventh birthday in May 2014, Ed was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Prior to this he exercised regularly and ate well. It came as a shock to many, especially since he ran a couple marathons in the last three years.
The Caribbean Bone Marrow Registry (CBMR) is an amazing ministry. They continue to help make navigating my life -post diagnosis- much easier. They have made me feel extremely supported and empowered as I went through one of the most world-shifting experience of my life.
